Job Description
We are looking for an Application Engineer to join Discover Financial Services, a global leader in digital banking and payments. As a Full Stack Engineer in the Digital Payments team, you will play a key role in building and releasing reliable software systems at scale. Your responsibilities will include analyzing, designing, programming, testing, and deploying new features while mentoring junior team members and achieving team commitments through leadership and effective communication. You will guide the team in making key design decisions, proactively remediate issues, and contribute to technology communities at Discover.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related areas.
- Internal proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale (for internal applicants).
Bonus Points
- Experience with legacy modernization projects.
- Strong Java and cloud-based technology experience (OCP).
- Designing, owning, and operating Kafka clusters for event-driven architecture.
- Designing, owning, and supporting pipeline capabilities for deploying applications and infrastructure into production.
- Problem-solving skills with a focus on long-term solutions and automation.
