Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our daycare team. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting our lead educators to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. Your passion for early childhood education and commitment to providing exceptional care will help shape young minds and create a positive learning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teacher in planning and implementing educational activities that meet children's developmental needs.
  • Supervise children to ensure safety and well-being in the classroom.
  • Maintain a clean and organized learning environment.
  • Provide individual attention to children requiring extra assistance or care.
  • Facilitate group activities to enhance social and cooperative skills.
  • Assist with daily routines, including meals, bathroom breaks, and nap times.
  • Observe and record children's behavior, milestones, and progress for review.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's experiences and development.
  • Prepare teaching materials and aids as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Enforce rules and disciplinary measures in line with daycare policy.
  • Support the integration of special needs children respectfully.
  • Encourage creative expression through art, music, and play.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by lead teacher or management.

Pay / Schedule

  • Full-time and Part-time positions available.
  • $16-19/hour based on experience.
  • 9-hour shift with a 1-hour lunch break.
  • Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm, no weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in early childhood education preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a daycare or educational setting with children.
  • Understanding of child development stages and age-appropriate behaviors.
  • Effective communication skills with children and adults.
  • Patience, flexibility, and ability to assist with lesson plans and activities.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and pass background and health screenings.
  • Strong observational and reporting skills with a commitment to professional development.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and documentation.
  • Adherence to daycare policies and procedures for a clean and safe environment.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus, depending on children served.
