Job Description

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) in Topeka, KS has a position for an experienced Construction Inspector. This role involves inspecting and reporting on various phases of civil construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and contract specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect various types of construction projects, including civil, architectural, and environmental disciplines, to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, and maintain inspection reports and contractor pay item quantities.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations.
  • Investigate and respond to citizen complaints regarding construction sites, occasionally providing material testing in the field on projects as needed.
  • Perform occasional lifting and working in outdoor and extreme weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of construction inspection experience preferred.
  • KDOT inspection experience and certifications (CITT and ACI) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of methods, practices, and techniques of civil construction and commercial development, as well as city, state, and federal codes and safety regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and PDF, with strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work 50+ hours per week and weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to accept out of town projects within the state of Kansas and possess a valid driver's license.
