Job Description
Lycoming College is seeking a part-time Counselor to join our Counseling Services team. As a Staff Counselor, you will provide general counseling services to our diverse student population, including individual, relationship, and group counseling. Additionally, you will develop and deliver outreach programs, offer consultation and crisis intervention services, and provide training and supervision as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct counseling services such as psychotherapy, assessment, and crisis intervention.
- Support students through individual and group counseling sessions.
- Offer specialized services to specific student populations like LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and International students.
- Collaborate with various departments to address students' psychological needs.
- Conduct after-hours crisis intervention and assess housing accommodation requests.
- Build and maintain relationships within the College community.
- Deliver educational and outreach programs on mental health and development issues.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions.
Requirements
- Master's degree and appropriate licensure in counseling psychology or related field.
- Experience providing counseling services to college-aged populations.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and writing skills.
- Knowledge of suicide and crisis assessment, as well as varied therapeutic modalities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and ethical standards.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in administration, clinical supervision, and outreach programming.
- Additional expertise in areas such as multicultural concerns, crisis management, or clinical training.
- Professional association involvement.
