Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Wappinger Falls, NY. As a Diesel Mechanic at First Student, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing school buses, ensuring their safety and readiness for daily operations. In addition to providing guidance to lower-level technicians, you will perform preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and repairs on various vehicle components.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections on school buses.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensure accurate completion of work orders and provide support for mobile emergency services.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
- Minimum of 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- Own a mechanic's tool set and be open to participating in the ASE certification program.
