Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Director of Life Claims and Investigations to join our team at USAA. In this role, you will report to the Chief Claims and Fraud Officer for the Life Company, focusing on providing exceptional member experiences for individuals dealing with the loss of a loved one. You will oversee Life, Annuity & Health claims, manage the Life Special Investigation Unit (SIU), and develop investigative and operational priorities. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing relationships with industry partners, law enforcement agencies, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to staff on procedures and guidelines.
  • Oversee decisions within the claims and benefits process.
  • Direct the claim investigation team to ensure business performance.
  • Develop and implement Claims Security strategic plans in collaboration with senior management.
  • Identify emerging fraud trends and develop new investigation programs.
  • Build relationships with enterprise partners, vendors, and agencies.
  • Lead hiring, employee development, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure effective risk management and compliance with policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR relevant experience equivalent to 12 years without a degree.
  • 8 years of business experience with 3 years in Claims and/or Insurance Fraud.
  • 3 years of team lead or management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • US military experience or military spouse/domestic partner.
  • 5+ years of Life Insurance and/or annuity claims experience.
  • 3+ years of Life Insurance and/or annuity claims management.
  • Experience with claims processing procedures and practices.
  • Past approval authority in handling high-value claims.
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering operational results.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $109,130 - $202,500. Employees are eligible for pay incentives based on performance.
