Job Description

We are looking for an Engineer II specializing in Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) to join our dynamic team at EarthScope Consortium. This full-time role involves managing and implementing geophysical projects across various locations, participating in field operations, and collaborating with team members to innovate and improve geophysical technologies. The successful candidate will work under supervision to identify new technologies, ensure project documentation complies with organizational standards, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement geophysical projects, including logistics, installation, maintenance, and data flow activities.
  • Solve technical issues related to geophysical hardware, software, and data management.
  • Assist in designing and testing new systems while evaluating the performance of existing instruments.
  • Document project activities and contribute to technical reports for review.
  • Collaborate with other departments on joint projects and engage with community members and partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 3 years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Bachelor's, or 1 year of field experience for Master's.
  • Previous exposure to data quality analysis software is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience with Fiber Optic Distributed Sensing applications.
  • Familiarity with signal processing, time-series data, and laboratory equipment.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages is desirable.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Additional Information

This position requires occasional travel (up to 30%) and may involve fieldwork in remote or extreme environments. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, a passport for international projects, and should meet physical qualifications for polar deployments.
