Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Description

We are looking for dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses to join the VitalCore Health Strategies team at Berrien County Jail in St. Joseph, Michigan for full-time, day shift positions. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will deliver quality care within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act. You will be responsible for tasks, activities, and functions as delegated, and may make assignments of duties to others as defined by the state of practice. Additionally, you will monitor patients as directed by the HSA, DON, RN, or Medical Director or other practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Utilize a systematic approach to meet the health needs of each individual patient.
• Implement nursing care within the LPN’s scope of practice, including compliance with all applicable laws in the practice setting.
• Assist in the development and implementation of teaching plans based on the individual needs of the patient, speaking to health promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
• Care for wounds with appropriate cleaning and dressing/bandaging.
• Administer medications.
• Provide for the care of multiple patients as directed by the HSA, DON, or Registered Nurse.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to appropriate medical staff.
• Document actions in medical records, and perform other nursing duties as assigned by the facility.

Requirements

• Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
• Possess an active CPR certification.
• Remain knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
• Satisfactorily complete initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
