Job Description

As a proactive team member, our Maintenance Technician at McIntosh Box & Pallet Co Inc is responsible for performing and managing plant maintenance programs under the direction of the Plant Manager. The role entails ensuring that maintenance activities uphold employee health and safety, product safety, and environmental protection while enhancing product quality, plant performance, and business priorities.

The successful candidate will strictly adhere to all health and safety policies and directives to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and address mechanical and electrical failures in plant manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain and repair process hand tools like pneumatic or electric reciprocating saws and nail guns.
  • Conduct minor unscheduled maintenance on trucking equipment such as forklifts and yard shuttle trucks.
  • Document performance and processes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Schedule, execute, and document work orders effectively.
  • Provide coaching on industrial production equipment use and repair.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks and possibly simple masonry skills for plant improvement projects.
  • Offer support for miscellaneous tasks like electrical/plumbing work, painting, building repairs, and landscaping.

Requirements

  • Mechanically inclined with a solid grasp of common mechanics tools.
  • Preferably completed a 30-hour OSHA course and possess welding knowledge.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing industrial pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial air compressors and associated components.
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple high-priority projects effectively.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and Control of Hazardous Energy procedures and regulations.
  • Proficient in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Able to stand/walk on concrete floors for extended periods, lift 75 pounds, and utilize MS Office and internet applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a high school diploma or GED.
