Responsibilities

  • Delivering instruction using curriculum materials and educational software.
  • Developing daily lesson plans and classroom schedules reflecting state and school requirements.
  • Collaborating with fellow teachers and support staff to provide instructional support and approved curriculum modifications.
  • Ensuring a safe, secure, and effective learning environment through the implementation of standards for student behavior.
  • Maintaining regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform them of student progress and any changes or situations affecting school performance.
  • Participating in team meetings to address specific student and parent concerns.
  • Assessing student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems.
  • Keeping up to date with research-based practices, subject area developments, and professional development opportunities.
  • Responding constructively to formal and informal feedback.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field.
  • Meet state substitute teacher licensing and/or certification requirements.
  • Special education certification preferred.
  • Advanced skills in communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities and diverse needs at various levels.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and/or national content standards.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology, computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry, and basic office equipment.
