Principal Application Architect

Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Application Architect to join our team at Discover Financial Services. As a key member of our technology team, you will lead the charge in driving technology strategy and technical capabilities for an application ecosystem. Your role involves designing application architecture that aligns business and customer needs with technical requirements for resiliency, security, and efficiency. You will collaborate with product owners, oversee the design process, and coach other architects to ensure product quality.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sr. Product Owner(s) to align product vision with technology strategy.
• Independently oversee the design process for applications.
• Coach other architects to develop product quality strategies.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of business processes and technical building blocks.
• Train others in solution design patterns.
• Engage in understanding and researching modern technologies and patterns.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Software Development, Software Engineering, or Technical Architecture.
• Internal applicants: proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus architecture scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS, Kubernetes, Openshift experience.

Compensation

Base pay ranges between $148,000.00 to $204,000.00 with additional incentives. Factors such as geographical location, experience, education, and skill level may impact pay.
