Job Description
The Registered Nurse position at Blessing Hospital offers competitive benefits and a salary package. The unit cares for patients who are above 17 years of age and require medical/surgical nursing care, primarily catering to surgical and general medical patients. The role involves collaborating with the nurse manager to lead front-line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care, coaching and guiding the nursing staff, and adopting innovative nursing practices based on evidence. Additionally, the position requires maintaining a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of 'just culture' and providing input into the evaluation of clinical nurses.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the nurse manager to lead front-line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care
- Coaches and guides nursing staff in the implementation of action plans to achieve organizational goals
- Adopts innovative nursing practices based on evidence
- Communicates and problem-solves at the unit and organizational level
- Completes the recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of nursing staff in collaboration with the nurse manager
- Ensures nursing staff compliance
- Collaborates with the nurse manager on budget development, utilization, evaluation, and adjustment
- Maintains a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of 'just culture'
- Provides input into the evaluation of clinical nurses
- Mentors charge nurses and clinical nurses
- Implements changes in nursing practice and/or patient care through shared governance
- Assumes the nurse manager responsibilities in the absence of the nurse manager
Requirements
- Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Previous leadership-related experience
- Possesses current Illinois RN license
- Maintains current BLS
- National Nursing Leadership Certification (when eligible)
- ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
- Preferred: Related Nursing Specialty Certification
