Job Description

The Registered Nurse position at Blessing Hospital offers competitive benefits and a salary package. The unit cares for patients who are above 17 years of age and require medical/surgical nursing care, primarily catering to surgical and general medical patients. The role involves collaborating with the nurse manager to lead front-line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care, coaching and guiding the nursing staff, and adopting innovative nursing practices based on evidence. Additionally, the position requires maintaining a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of 'just culture' and providing input into the evaluation of clinical nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the nurse manager to lead front-line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care
  • Coaches and guides nursing staff in the implementation of action plans to achieve organizational goals
  • Adopts innovative nursing practices based on evidence
  • Communicates and problem-solves at the unit and organizational level
  • Completes the recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of nursing staff in collaboration with the nurse manager
  • Ensures nursing staff compliance
  • Collaborates with the nurse manager on budget development, utilization, evaluation, and adjustment
  • Maintains a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of 'just culture'
  • Provides input into the evaluation of clinical nurses
  • Mentors charge nurses and clinical nurses
  • Implements changes in nursing practice and/or patient care through shared governance
  • Assumes the nurse manager responsibilities in the absence of the nurse manager

Requirements

  • Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Previous leadership-related experience
  • Possesses current Illinois RN license
  • Maintains current BLS
  • National Nursing Leadership Certification (when eligible)
  • ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
  • Preferred: Related Nursing Specialty Certification
