9 East is a 23-bed Neuroscience step-down unit at MUSC that cares for adult Stroke, Neurosurgery, & Neurology high acuity patients. Nurses on this unit are highly skilled, with certifications in NIHSS & ACLS and encouraged to become Stroke Certified. The team focuses on safe outcomes and operates with staffing ratios of 1:3 or 1:4 based on acuity levels. Job Duties

• Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care to patients and families.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to achieve desired outcomes.
• Assist at the advanced beginner level under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred (unless current MUSC employee).
• Licensure as a registered nurse in South Carolina or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Various physical and mental abilities are required, including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in different environments. Flexibility, good vision, and stress management skills are essential.
