Job Description

The Registered Nurse Vascular Access at Manatee Memorial Hospital provides consultation for providers and nurses regarding the most appropriate vascular access device based on patient assessment and treatment plan. Responsibilities include placing vascular access devices such as peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), Peripheral Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), and Midline catheters. The role also involves managing central venous access devices, including routine dressing changes and cap changes, and intervening to maintain patency of central venous access devices. Additionally, the nurse services as a resource for the healthcare team in intravenous access, placement, management, and patient/family education for care and maintenance techniques, ultrasound machines, and confirming line placement via chest X-ray.
