About the EV Charger Technician Position
As an EV Charger Technician with First Student, you will service electric vehicle infrastructure and power electronics, including medium voltage drives and utility-grade power conveyance systems throughout Florida to ensure readiness & safety. Other major job duties include:

  • Commission, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support electrical vehicle chargers, the charger manufacturer, and the utility in the assigned territory.
  • Travel to multiple locations within the territory and respond to emergency calls both on and off hour times.
  • Commission, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support medium voltage drives located primarily in power generation plants within the territory.
  • Travel will be 70-90% with opportunity for off hour premium overtime. Some out of state travel might be required from time to time.

EV Charger Technician Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a journeyman electrician and be willing to obtain a license in Florida.
  • Experience in using test equipment, such as scopes, meters, sensors, etc., and taking measurements with instrumentation in the field.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder networks, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise with single and 3-phase electrical systems, including various DC and AC voltages, a plus with experience with distributed energy and transmission AC voltages.
