Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Technician at Shearer's is responsible for maintaining the efficiency of machinery and equipment in a continuous improvement-based environment, while also creating and maintaining a safe work environment. This position involves setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining production/manufacturing equipment and machinery, inspecting equipment for proper functioning, and performing preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications. The role includes diagnosing equipment malfunctions and making repairs or adjustments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Performing installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Performing scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
  • Performing simple machinist duties, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
  • Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Performing regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detecting faulty operations and defective material, and maintaining clean and orderly work areas.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on plant production systems and equipment, capable of performing mechanical and electrical tasks, and troubleshooting plant production equipment.

Requirements

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills.
  • Experience with mechanical systems, product manuals, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, and reading mechanical drawings.
  • Interpersonal, decision-making, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and perform calibrations, installation, and maintenance of process and analytical instrumentation.
  • Physical ability to meet requirements such as walking, standing, lifting, and utilizing vision as well as working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule.
