Job Description

The Laboratory Supervisor at Eurofins USA Food Testing receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the Business Unit Manager or appointed designate for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. This position demonstrates and promotes the company's vision and is responsible for managing daily operations of the microbiology department, performing timely and accurate analysis of samples, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring compliance with regulatory procedures. Additionally, the Laboratory Supervisor reviews and evaluates test data, trains technical staff, and remains current on technical, industry, and business advancements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates and promotes the company vision
• Regular attendance and punctuality
• Assist the Business Unit Manager in managing daily operations of the microbiology department
• Perform timely and accurate analysis of samples to meet customer commitments
• Use appropriate quality measures when performing assigned tasks and maintain equipment in good working order
• Coordinate major instrument repairs with local quality representative
• Review and validate technical data to ensure readiness for reporting
• Review applications, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions for the position reporting to this position
• Train and document the training of assigned technical staff
• Review annually the performance of personnel that report directly to this position
• Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements
• Adhere to all pertinent company health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner

Requirements

• HS diploma plus 5-7 years' laboratory experience
• BS Degree plus 2-3 years' laboratory experience (additional preference)
• Experience in laboratory procedures, data analysis, computer operations, mathematics, and technical/business writing
• 2-3 years supervisory experience in related field (additional preference)
• Leadership ability
• Proficient in the use of eLIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
• Attention to detail and works well independently and as part of a group
