Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Documents patient care given and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with daily living activities, performance of clinical treatments, and evaluation of learning needs of patients/families.
  • Assesses, formulates a plan of care, and attends interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Conducts psychiatric interviews, observes patient behavior and mental status, formulates and implements patient treatment plans, and provides education to patients and families.
  • Provides consultative services to nursing staff on other units and orients new staff members and volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Required Licenses: Must have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license. Handle with Care certification and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 90 days of hire or transfer. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred.
