Summer Program Director, Galileo X Camp

Job Description

Galileo is a nationally recognized summer day camp empowering young innovators to change the world. As a Summer Program Director, you will assume overall leadership of one of our camp locations, providing expanded learning opportunities to students in under-resourced schools, many of whom are English learners, eligible for free or reduced meals, or foster youth. You will partner directly with schools and districts to provide equitable access to our flagship Galileo programming, managing, and coaching staff, seamlessly overseeing day-to-day operations, and creating a joy-filled summer camp culture.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll be responsible for all aspects of daily camp operations and run an efficient and joy-filled program, collaborating with and cultivating a team of 10-50+ summer staff, and building partnerships in the community we serve.
  • Under your leadership, campers will have safe and joyous experiences, and you'll be utilizing existing training and resources to efficiently manage your time and responsibilities, ensuring camp has the necessary resources and supplies.
  • With People Ops support, you'll manage compliance processes, implement company policies, and uphold camp safety standards, including daily site safety checks.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience in K-8 education, combined with a strong preference for experience in low-income communities, including ELL and foster youth.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to coach educators toward success, with the ability to work part-time remotely and full-time on-site starting in June 2024.
  • Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, high energy, enthusiasm, and handle changing needs and demands while balancing multiple priorities.
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to travel to two onsite training events during the pre-camp season.

Benefits

  • Total compensation ranging from $11,050 - $14,900, including free summer camp enrollment, a performance bonus, and leadership training & professional development.
  • Priority nomination for Innovation for All scholarship, a 15% Friends and Family Discount, and a community of over 10,000 inspiring changemakers.

Location

Pre-camp work is remote, and summer camp assignments are throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, Chicago, Seattle, or Denver.
