Job Description

We are looking for an Engineer II to join the EarthScope Consortium team as a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) specialist. This position, based at our EPIC facility in Socorro, New Mexico, requires managing and implementing geophysical field projects of varying complexity. You will work in domestic and international locations, supporting instrumentation deployment and collaborating with other team members to drive technical innovations in geophysical technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage field projects, including logistics, site operations, and network configuration.
  • Collaborate on the design and testing of new geophysical systems.
  • Evaluate instrument performance and propose technological advancements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of project activities.
  • Engage in collaborative projects with other departments and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geosciences, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks.
  • Familiarity with data quality analysis software preferred.
  • Experience in Fiber Optics Distributed Sensing applications and data processing.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages.

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and optical instruments.
  • Knowledge of signal processing methods and time series data analysis.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to lead engineering projects and collaborate effectively with team members.
