Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Engineer II - Sensor Test and Evaluation to join our Instrumentation team at EarthScope Consortium. In this role, you will manage and implement various geophysical projects, providing technical support for instruments and networks across different locations, including the United States and international sites. As part of a collaborative team, you will work on field operations, propose new technologies, and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Implement geophysical projects and support multiple projects of varying complexity.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to sensors, firmware, software, and data communications.
  • Contribute to the design and testing of new systems.
  • Evaluate instrument design and propose improvements for next-generation systems.
  • Document activities and metadata using established tools and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other departments and engage in collaborative projects.
  • Maintain relationships with various stakeholders and community members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geosciences, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks for Bachelor's degree holders.
  • 1 year of field experience for Master's degree holders.
  • Proficiency in technical skills related to geophysical sensors.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Other Requirements

  • Availability for field operations and travel up to 30%.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions with physical requirements.
