Senior Insurance Follow Up Specialist

Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Insurance Follow Up Specialist to join University of Toledo Physicians. In this role, you will drive resolution of outstanding account balances, ensuring compliance and integrity while enhancing the patient experience. You will be responsible for communication with team members, insurance representatives, and other departments to optimize revenue cycle outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Document all actions and responses in the practice management system for claim resolution.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to resolve outstanding accounts.
• Follow workflow processes for accurate registration, coding, payment posting, and insurance processing.
• Investigate reasons for unpaid/denied claims and ensure resolution.
• Manage claims in assigned worklists to meet productivity standards.
• Participate in process improvement activities and additional assignments as needed.
• Recognize trends in non-payment to prevent future issues.
• Ensure appropriate filing and timely claim submissions.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA policies.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in resolving insurance denials or revenue cycle management.
• Basic understanding of insurance regulations, medical terminology, and financial procedures.
• Strong communication, analytical, and time management skills.
• Proficiency in data entry and computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of CPT and ICD terminology.
• Experience with billing software and EPIC.
