Job Description

HumanKind, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving children and families for over a century, is seeking an Early Head Start Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will work in pairs to provide direct supervision for children, offering high-quality early education and child development services to promote cognitive, social, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive care, effective teaching methods, and an organized learning environment aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Plan and execute curriculum-based activities supporting individual child development and learning.
  • Utilize assessment tools and data for individual and group planning, notifying management of developmental concerns.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external resources to ensure appropriate services for children.
  • Engage families through home visits, communication, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Utilize technology for lesson planning, student assessment, and caregiver engagement.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of early childhood care, infant/toddler development, and research-based curriculum.
  • Ability to adhere to licensing, program standards, and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Flexibility, time management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to handle various tasks including lifting children, conducting home visits, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in computer skills and data entry.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and early childhood services experience for Contingent Teacher role.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) or related credential for Teacher role; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Health clearance, background checks, and drug tests required.
  • Excellent references.
