Job Description
FIBERTEK, INC. is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community. We are currently seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join our Research and Development Team in Herndon, VA. As a Firmware Engineer at Fibertek, you will collaborate with small teams to develop, verify, and enhance firmware in electro-optical systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop, verify, and upgrade firmware for Fibertek's electro-optical systems.
- Utilize expertise in VHDL for firmware development.
- Work with Xilinx and/or Microchip FPGAs and associated development tools.
- Collaborate with hardware designers to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Conduct simulations and test benches to validate design and compliance.
- Utilize lab instruments for testing and validation purposes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience in firmware development.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in VHDL and experience with interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, and high-speed memory interfaces.
- Experience with developing Hi-Rel/Space programs, signal processing, and using IP cores is a plus.
Bonus Areas
- Experience with Spacewire, Gigabit Ethernet, or Aurora interfaces.
- Knowledge of developing code for microcontrollers and FPGA embedded CPU cores.
- Designing GUI-based test software for firmware.
